Changing America

Like it or not, America is changing. Some things we might not want changed are being changed anyway. The way we do business has been forever altered because of some unscrupulous, greedy, despots who run banks, Insurance companies, Investment firms, Unions, and manufacuting Corporations. Untold millions of tax payer dollars have been handed over to crooks, theves, and politicians with the intent to bolster the national economy. Most of those millions went into private pockets as outlandish bonuses for CEOs with no conscience. The Capitalist system of economics which brought us to the heights of success as a nation, victory in war, wealth for our citizens, and pride in ourselves, has been tainted by an undeserving few.
The disregard for honesty and integrity in business affairs as well as in politics has brought us to our knees as an economic powerhouse. The current Administration has demonstrated that there is no need to keep promises or hopeful predictions. The wisdom of our Founders, who wrote the Constitution, envisioned a nation of honorable men who would carry on the importance of Liberty and the values of Freedom, and who would fight to preserve the concept of God given "rights."
Under the guise of protecting our "security" we are now herded like sheep when we use public transportation. Our right to keep and bear arms is under attack because of the acts of a few lawless individuals. The freedom to speak our minds on issues is thwarted by the fear that someone may be offended, or we might not sound politically correct. The current Administration would like to silence its opposition on issues, so free speech is a target. The freedom to peacefully assemble is already under attack from left wing hoods.
We are being lied to, and escorted down the primrose path by our President and his crowd of cronies and czars. His Peace prize sets like a crown on his self important head. He is a danger to us all. His failure to come through on his promises is starting to wake people up to his inability to lead this nation. It will soon become obvious, even to his supporters, that he is a phony. Let us hope, and pray, that this man does not "change" us beyond repair.

Who Do You Trust?

A CBS television show called "Big Brother" recently concluded a series where individual participants were encouraged to lie, be deceitful, form alliances for the purpose of hurting others, and generally fake loyalties in order to win money. Elected political leaders have no compunction about making promises they can't keep. This is a time when the importance of integrity and personal responsibility is lost to greed and dishonest behaviour. This is a time when old fashioned Americanism and fair play are trumped by self aggrandizement.

Politicians of every stripe seem to be willing to join in some sort of collusion to advance "party" goals to stay in office, or to make sure others do, without regard to who, or what, is good for the country. The main stream press is decidedly biased toward the liberal left, to the point of ignoring revelations of deceit and wrong doing by the powers that be.

When the President of the United States surrounds himself with unsavory individuals, persons known for anti American values, dishonesty, hate, and lack of integrity, by appointing them to places of power in our Government, how can we trust him to act in the best interest of our country? This is no idle question. Where is the Government taking us, as a nation, by plunging us deeper and deeper in debt by "bailout" schemes, takeovers of industry, health and social programs, and the creation of "czars" to dictate how we live? Who can we trust?

An important area is that dealing with the education of our youth. Colleges and Universities across the land are exercising greater influence on the "outcome" based philosophy which is contrary to the notion of well rounded educational achievement. The past is being ignored, and history overlooked, in favor of expedient programs to turn out graduates. Patriotism seems no longer important, never mind what "Socialism" is, or how it can change the way we live. Children are not being taught to think, but rather to accept what teacher says, leaving them vulnerable to whatever concept is in vogue.

This is not a hopeless situation. The solution, and the way to reestablish trust in our elected officials, is to demand accountability, and to return to the principles, values, and the limited Government that our Constitution outlines. We must instill the concept of respect and decency in our children, and in those we choose to govern us. We need to return to being proud of our country, and to take pride in who we are, as Americans. This country was built on "limited government" and "Rugged Individualism." That is how we became a great nation. God bless America!

Critical Times Ahead

I have written "opinion" articles for various publications for more than twenty years. It is my deep held belief that this article may be the most important one, and the most critical, that I have ever written. I hope every American who reads this, regardless of political persuaion, will be led to discover for himself what I see as critical to the future of this country. I have no secret sources of information. What I express now is based on what I have read in the daily newspaper, heard on news broadcasts and the President's speeches, and discussed with fellow concerned citizens. This is what I believe:

America has accepted the election of a fradulent, perhaps ineligible, person to be its President. I believe this President is a pretender, who is not what he claims to be. I believe he intends to use whatever means possible to frustrate the advancement of traditional values and concepts that have served this nation since it's founding. His agenda is to achieve personal glory, control, and riches, at whatever cost to the nation. He has seduced a huge number of vulnerable, gullible, citizens, causing them to believe his words, which have been contradictory from the start. Every promise he has made has been modified, reneged, or bypassed since his election.
This President's past associations have been with anti-Americans, corrupt individuals, liars, political "hacks," and tax cheats. His inexperience in governmental affairs, economics, international relations, and domestic programs, has resulted in the appointment of similarly incompetent persons to high office. In his efforts to gain control over our country, he is jeopardizing our economic stability, national health issues, Constitutional order, and the liberty we have enjoyed as a free nation. He and his cronies are undermining our capatilist system with the free flow of money and the nationalist takeover of banks, industry, commerce, health reform, education, and international trade.
He is expressly targeting small business, the source of the largest segment of our wealth, with high taxes and regulations. He also is attacking traditional freedoms, to include free speech and expression, the right to peaceably assemble, property rights, and the right to keep and bear arms.
No one is immune to the harm this President is bringing upon this country. The consequences of his acts will disrupt national unity, inspire rebellion, promote racial division, and wreck our economy. There are critical times ahead.

Salute to a Generation

I was one of 30 local veterans of World War II, honored by the Non-Commissioned Officers Association, in a presentation program at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort on June 6th, 2009. The date coincided with the 65th anniversary of the D-Day landings at Normandy in France. The honorees represented each branch of service, Army, Navy, Coast Guard, Army Air Corps, and Marine Corps. Each honoree was presented with a beautiful Medallion, depicting the generation and the legacy of those who met the challenges of that terrible time.

As I stood in my turn at "front and center," being applauded by those in attendance for the program, I was struck by the enormity of the patriotic endeavors represented by those men and women who shared the tribute. I am proud of my service with the U.S. Navy Amphibious Forces in the Pacific Theater, but my record was overshadowed by those who had flown the aircraft, faced the barrage of gunfire at point blank range, suffered the humility of being captives of the enemy, and defied fate to accomplish the mission.

In that moment I wondered how many of our young offspring, sons and daughters, and grand children, would remember what we did to preserve the heritage, and the freedom, they enjoy. Our armed forces today are being called upon to sacrifice, to face a new, often clandestine, enemy in faraway places. Do our High Schools, Colleges, and Universities, serve to teach the values and patriotism that we fought so hard to defend and maintain? Or is our legacy lost to a concept of "acceptance" of the threats to our heritage? Surely enough Americans still believe our freedoms are worth fighting for. Surely the politicians will not be permitted to destroy what we have for so long cherished.

God bless America, and let us retain our sense of pride in our country, and let us never forget our history, and the reasons we became a great nation. Let our prayers be to uphold tradition, a sense of honor, and respect, for ourselves and each other. Long may our nation endure, in freedom, and lasting liberty.

Footnote: Many thanks to the Non-Commissioned Officers Association and to the active and retired NCOs who brought about this outstanding program. Thanks also to the various "history" groups and "reinactors" who were dressed in the timely olive drab uniforms of the period.

The Future of Freedom

Anyone who does not know that our "freedom" is in jeopardy is either asleep or too wrought up in their own activities to notice what is happening around them. Under the current administration, the President has declared his intention to provide health coverage for everybody, and to, in effect, redistribute wealth from those who possess wealth to those who do not. He has caused a major infusion of capital into the private sector as a means to control the receiving industries. He has demonstrated his willingness to use whatever means available to control the personal behaviour of individuals as well as corporations.

The President has reneged on most of his campaign promises and stated goals. Despite that fact, he still maintains a following who worships him, will do his bidding, forgive his blunders, and overlook the fact that many of his appointees are tax cheats, or worse. He is well on his way to set up a Socialist form of government. He will bypass the Constitution to achieve his agenda.

One of our basic rights, "free speech," is under attack. He, among others in high places, wants to silence certain radio personalities who espouse a conservative political view. He wants to control public education with local infusions of funds; using that lever to dictate policies and curriculum. He is supporting "union" takeovers of industry. He is selectively bracing up financial institutions of his choosing, with no explanation or apology.

Just one year ago, in another publication, I predicted that if Obama should be elected President he would bring on the most divisive administration since the American Civil War. I now take a bow, because my fears are being fulfilled. I hope and pray that enough American patriots will see the consequences of what is unfolding to put the brakes on Obama's mistaken idealism.

The Future of Government

I once asked Joel Heffley, who was our Fifth District Congressional Representative at the time, if our system of government was becoming obsolete. His response was a predictable "no." With the new Obama administration, with its Socialistic aims in place, I wonder if the word "obsolete" was descriptive enough. The question might well have been: "Can we continue to afford our system of government?" How do we pay for it?

Obama promised changes but he put the old Clinton crooks back in charge. Not only were most of his appointees tax evaders, some were directly responsible for the economic tornado that struck. Obama promised tax relief for 95% of us and then plunged us staggering under the most tumultuous debt burden ever. What can we expect from this reckless surge of big government? Even "big government" advocates are dumbfounded by the enormous cost of their folly. The bottom line: We can't afford what they are trying to do without the confiscation of the wealth of Corporations and individuals. That means the loss of our freedom! That means our Constitution becomes obsolete.

It has been estimated that the total government "pork earmarks" are at $15 Billion per year. The way our Congressional Representatives spend our money should be an outrage to every thinking American. "We the people" have lost control of Government. Congress is in the throes of sinking our "ship of state." Barack Obama has no idea where his misguided policies are taking us. He is taking advantage of his glorfied status, making dramatic speeches about his progress, while robbing us of our heritage and cherished freedom. Those placed in the seats of Government no longer represent the people. They are in a world of their own. They are either too stupid or too engrossed in their own endeavors to care about their constituants.

It is time to cut the numbers. We don't need two Senators for every state, nor do we need 435 "Representatives" bleeding us for two hundred million dollars a year. What we do need is a common sense approach to our problems. Let our businesses and Corporations stand or fall on their own merits. Trust our Capitalist system to honorable people who will lead us back to free enterprise.

We MUST return to the principles and values that made us great. We MUST revert to a moral existence, as individuals and as a nation. We MUST accept responsibility for our behaviour and stop this greedy absorption of self indulgence. It is high time to take pride in who we are. As Americans, we have achieved more than any other nation in the history of the world. We did so because we were winners. We owe no apologies to the world for our successes. We need bow down for no one. Our strength, our national character, our very opulence, are now part of who we are. That is not arrogance, that is pride. If we lose that, we lose our freedom.

God bless America, and lead us back to our senses!

Reality Sets In

Those who are still enamored of our new President, and still believe his promises, are due for a rude awakening soon. Although he is still new to the job, and still relying on old hands for guidance, he is, himself, misled into believing he can spend his way to success. It is the old political story: If at first you don't succeed, throw money at it.

His aim, of course, is to set us up as a "Socialist" nation. He is doling out tons of free money to financial institutions and to greedy, fellow politicians who see it all as a path to riches. Does anyone remember the fiasco in Iraq when bundles of money were scooped up in buckets from the street? Wait until Mr. Obama is through with us. We may need buckets full of money to buy a loaf of bread.

Obama's mesmerized campaign audiences saw him as no less than a saviour, set to free us all from stress and woes. His oratory frightened clear thinkers because they recognized him as the guy with the snake oil. Now we face the question whether we can survive as a free and independent nation, as a capitalist stronghold, with liberties intact.

The Founding Fathers, who believed in liberty, basic freedoms, and a Capitalist society of individualists, set this nation on a course of progress that was unequaled in all of history. Even with a few crooks to deal with along the way, we became the worlds leader in industry, wealth, production, and personal achievement. Free money, and threats to our liberty, has made us victims, and freeloaders, looking to the Government for handouts.

I believe the only way to escape total economic disaster is to wake up the entire Congress to the evils we are near. Many of the older generation Americans, especially those who grew up remembering the Great Depression, have blindly accepted the flowering propaganda spewed out by Barack Obama, believing he will somehow save the day. Their confidence, and their votes, helped to give Mr. Obama a chance to fulfill his campaign promises of a chicken in every pot. The problem is though, not everyone has a pot.

The reality is that a good many are already suffering "buyers remorse." But while they may regret their votes for a man whose only talent is in his ability to deceive, the world waits with us for a return to stability. And while our enemies wait to pounce, we seem to be lost in an economic whirlpool with nowhere to go but down.

If this nation is to survive as a democratic Republic, we must rise above greed and return to the values and concepts of our Constitution. We must embrace the ideals of self respect, honor, individual liberty, and the freedom to proclaim God and country as inspiration for patriotism. May we not forget who we were.

The Ragtag Revolution

I call it the "Ragtag Revolution" because it will be poorly organized, unfunded, and essentially leaderless for decades. But it is coming! Far too many American people have been hypnotized into believing an idealist, of the wrong political persuasion, has appeared on the scene to save us. It won't happen, and when the smoke clears, this nation will have been changed forever.

When enough people become aware of the "great delusion" promoted by the liberal left, and they realize they have been duped into setting the stage for anarchy in this country, it will be too late to halt the trend by traditional means. It will require a Constitutional Convention to restore our form of Government.

Our foundations have been shattered by the onslaught of Socialist organizers, greedy opportunists, and unscrupulous politicians. The proposed additional "bailout billions" will be no more effective in rebuilding our economy than the initial stimulus handouts were. Small businesses have been abandoned in favor of those "too big to fail."

The great numbers of people who live in this country on the compelled generosity of others, the "welfare society," plus the unconscionable thieves who rob the honest, hard working citizens of the fruits of their labors, are also part of the problem. Many have been led to believe they are somehow entitled to share the fruits of others. The idea to redistribute wealth by taking from those who have, and giving to those who have not, is quite appealing to the "have nots."

This Republic was not organized to benefit the lame and lazy. It was organized to benefit a robust and industrious society of "doers" and makers of things. It was organized to thrive on the labors of innovators, inventors, and entrepreneurs. The concept of "rugged individualism" meant "honor" and self responsibility in the pursuit of happiness. What the Founding Fathers set out to achieve has been largely lost on modern America. It will take a "Ragtag Revolution" to bring it back.

The ruination of our system has been fostered by unscrupulous and greedy "money barons" who crave only the power and means to protect themselves. They care not for the liberty of others, the honor of independence, or for the propagation of freedom and justice in their native land. Only in their demise will we be free of them. They have distorted the Capitalist system which brought this country to greatness.

The road to ruin is well traveled, by the empires that lived before ours. The road to recovery is difficult, at best, and possibly impossible at its worst. The economic chaos of the next few years will only be overcome by a ragtag revolution, starting with Small Business survival.
