I once asked Joel Heffley, who was our Fifth District Congressional Representative at the time, if our system of government was becoming obsolete. His response was a predictable "no." With the new Obama administration, with its Socialistic aims in place, I wonder if the word "obsolete" was descriptive enough. The question might well have been: "Can we continue to afford our system of government?" How do we pay for it?
Obama promised changes but he put the old Clinton crooks back in charge. Not only were most of his appointees tax evaders, some were directly responsible for the economic tornado that struck. Obama promised tax relief for 95% of us and then plunged us staggering under the most tumultuous debt burden ever. What can we expect from this reckless surge of big government? Even "big government" advocates are dumbfounded by the enormous cost of their folly. The bottom line: We can't afford what they are trying to do without the confiscation of the wealth of Corporations and individuals. That means the loss of our freedom! That means our Constitution becomes obsolete.
It has been estimated that the total government "pork earmarks" are at $15 Billion per year. The way our Congressional Representatives spend our money should be an outrage to every thinking American. "We the people" have lost control of Government. Congress is in the throes of sinking our "ship of state." Barack Obama has no idea where his misguided policies are taking us. He is taking advantage of his glorfied status, making dramatic speeches about his progress, while robbing us of our heritage and cherished freedom. Those placed in the seats of Government no longer represent the people. They are in a world of their own. They are either too stupid or too engrossed in their own endeavors to care about their constituants.
It is time to cut the numbers. We don't need two Senators for every state, nor do we need 435 "Representatives" bleeding us for two hundred million dollars a year. What we do need is a common sense approach to our problems. Let our businesses and Corporations stand or fall on their own merits. Trust our Capitalist system to honorable people who will lead us back to free enterprise.
We MUST return to the principles and values that made us great. We MUST revert to a moral existence, as individuals and as a nation. We MUST accept responsibility for our behaviour and stop this greedy absorption of self indulgence. It is high time to take pride in who we are. As Americans, we have achieved more than any other nation in the history of the world. We did so because we were winners. We owe no apologies to the world for our successes. We need bow down for no one. Our strength, our national character, our very opulence, are now part of who we are. That is not arrogance, that is pride. If we lose that, we lose our freedom.
God bless America, and lead us back to our senses!
