Reality Sets In

Those who are still enamored of our new President, and still believe his promises, are due for a rude awakening soon. Although he is still new to the job, and still relying on old hands for guidance, he is, himself, misled into believing he can spend his way to success. It is the old political story: If at first you don't succeed, throw money at it.

His aim, of course, is to set us up as a "Socialist" nation. He is doling out tons of free money to financial institutions and to greedy, fellow politicians who see it all as a path to riches. Does anyone remember the fiasco in Iraq when bundles of money were scooped up in buckets from the street? Wait until Mr. Obama is through with us. We may need buckets full of money to buy a loaf of bread.

Obama's mesmerized campaign audiences saw him as no less than a saviour, set to free us all from stress and woes. His oratory frightened clear thinkers because they recognized him as the guy with the snake oil. Now we face the question whether we can survive as a free and independent nation, as a capitalist stronghold, with liberties intact.

The Founding Fathers, who believed in liberty, basic freedoms, and a Capitalist society of individualists, set this nation on a course of progress that was unequaled in all of history. Even with a few crooks to deal with along the way, we became the worlds leader in industry, wealth, production, and personal achievement. Free money, and threats to our liberty, has made us victims, and freeloaders, looking to the Government for handouts.

I believe the only way to escape total economic disaster is to wake up the entire Congress to the evils we are near. Many of the older generation Americans, especially those who grew up remembering the Great Depression, have blindly accepted the flowering propaganda spewed out by Barack Obama, believing he will somehow save the day. Their confidence, and their votes, helped to give Mr. Obama a chance to fulfill his campaign promises of a chicken in every pot. The problem is though, not everyone has a pot.

The reality is that a good many are already suffering "buyers remorse." But while they may regret their votes for a man whose only talent is in his ability to deceive, the world waits with us for a return to stability. And while our enemies wait to pounce, we seem to be lost in an economic whirlpool with nowhere to go but down.

If this nation is to survive as a democratic Republic, we must rise above greed and return to the values and concepts of our Constitution. We must embrace the ideals of self respect, honor, individual liberty, and the freedom to proclaim God and country as inspiration for patriotism. May we not forget who we were.
